Residential Green Games

As the student component of Carolina Green, Residential Green Games is a student-run environmental competition between the fifteen housing communities at UNC. The competition lasts from September to March and is administered by OWRR who is responsible for organizing Committee Meetings, assisting with program ideas and overseeing the competition as a whole.

Mission

Green Games seeks to promote student awareness regarding issues of campus sustainability, energy and water conservation, waste reduction, recycling and other environmental concerns. We aim to present opportunities for students to learn about these issues from one another and then we encourage them to incorporate what they've learned into their daily routines and lives here at UNC.

Working Together As a Community

Teams are determined based on housing communities. There are fifteen housing communities/residential areas on campus. We encourage Resident Advisors and residents to partner in order to optimize their environmental program and thus earn their community more points! Remember-- the more proactive the program, the more points the program will earn for your community!  Ultimately Green Games encourages RA's and residents to learn with and through one another in order to positively influence the residential community at UNC.

Interested in being a Sustainability Representative for your Community?

We would love to have a Sustainabilty Representative in each community in the upcoming competition. The aim of the Sustainability Representative is to inform their community about Residential Green Games, ensure their community stays up-to-date on all the new and exciting things going on with Green Games and encourage their community in environmental programming! Furthermore, the Sustainability Representative will be responsible for attending our monthly Green Games committee meetings. Meetings usually last no longer than an hour. Being a Sustainability Representative is a great way to become proactively-involved in your community's sustainable progression and a great way to assert and hone your leadership skills!
